About the Fulni-ô People
The Fulni-ô are an indigenous group from Brazil's Pernambuco state, notable for their culturally conservative practices and their unique language isolate, Iatê. They maintain a three-month religious retreat each year and are known for their exceptional handicrafts. The Fulni-ô are horticulturists who raise beans, weave baskets, and work with carna fiber, while preserving traditional rituals in sacred clearings.
The name Fulni-ô means "people of the riverbank." Historically known as Carnijós, they now live in a reservation, continuing to honor their ancestral traditions and cultural heritage.

Join us for an evening of music, prayers, cacao, food and community dedicated to peace in our hearts and in the world.
So many places around the world are experiencing deep suffering and destruction. It can feel overwhelming and distant, yet each small act of compassion ripples outward.
This gathering is our way to raise awareness, offer support and remember that peace begins within us. We’ll come together in the sanctuary of Oca to listen, sing, and offer collective prayers for healing.
The evening will flow through live music, shared reflection and moments of silence. There will also be a business raffle with beautiful prizes generously donated by our Bermondsey neighbours all proceeds going toward peace-focused initiatives.
We will have a Cacao & Tea Bar will be open for donations, along with homemade energy balls and pão de queijo to share. Families are warmly welcome (children under 12 join free).
Together, in a world that feels heavy, let’s create a pocket of peace a reminder that connection and kindness still matter.
