Dance of the Orishas

Dance of the Orishas is a movement and sound-based workshop inspired by the chants, symbols, dances, and rhythms of Candomblé Ketu, an Afro-Brazilian spiritual tradition rooted in the Yoruba and Bantu diasporas.

Through storytelling, dance, sound and food, we will explore the physical and spiritual dimensions of the Orishas—deities of nature and transformation.

This workshop is open to all levels, ages, and abilities. The presence of elders, families and children is especially welcome. Traditional Afro-Brazilian food prepared by the teacher will be available to participants for a multisensory cultural immersion.

This workshop will include a traditional Brazilian food; Moqueca de peixe - A classic, fragrant seafood stew from Bahia, Brazil, featuring tender white fish simmered in a rich, velvety broth of coconut milk, red palm oil (dendê), sweet bell peppers, tomatoes, and fresh coriander. A vegan option based on plantain will be available.
