The Autumn Equinox is a threshold, a moment when day and night, Yang and Yin, find equilibrium. A point of balance before the descent into the darker half of the year, the equinox holds the seasonal invitation to harvest, turn inward, and reflect.
In this 90-minute ritual, we’ll journey through the Chinese Five Elements (Wu Xing) as a map for our inner seasons: from the grounding of Earth to the letting go of Water, from the becoming of Wood to the expanding of Fire — until, finally, we are received by the integration of Metal, the element that the Autumn Equinox itself corresponds to.
Through gentle somatic movement, guided meditation, reflective writing, and a sound bath, we'll move from grounding to integration, honouring what each season asks us to release, and what each invites us to keep. These practices are drawn from Freya’s book, Unlearning, to Love: An Academic's Memoir on Truth, Meaning, and Spirit, which follows the Five Elements as a map for healing and transformation. There will be a short reading from the book, and a signed copy is included with registration.
This is a space where cosmology, embodiment, and inner transformation meet; a quiet, nourishing pause at the turning of the year that will help you move forward, grounded in the season’s wisdom.
