Turning 30: Rooted, Empowered, and Ready for What’s to Come
At the beginning of August I turned 30, which initially felt like a daunting milestone. However having asked my friends, family and teachers for their insight I’ve established that turning 30 is not the end of youth as I initially thought—it's the beginning of becoming rooted.
Chatting to people about their experiences of being 30+ has really shifted how I’m framing this new stage of my life. I have summarised these conversations below. Now I’m celebrating what’s to come for this exciting new chapter!
- In your twenties, you may have spent a lot of time figuring things out—who you are and what you want. Thirty is when the fog starts to lift. You begin to own your story, instead of questioning every chapter.
- You don’t chase approval as much, because you’ve started building something stronger: self-respect.
- Thirty isn’t about having everything figured out—it’s about realizing you don’t have to. It’s about choosing growth over perfection.
- It’s the age where your "yes" carries more power, and your "no" comes with less guilt.
- Your twenties were for discovering your voice, your thirties are for using it.
