Supporting Mothers Through Pregnancy and Beyond with Yoga
There’s something quietly special about Friday mornings at Oca.
Since late spring last year, I’ve had the joy of teaching both Pregnancy Yoga and then Mum & Baby Yoga, and over time these classes have begun to weave into a shared thread of care, connection, and transformation.
In the pregnancy classes, we slow down, listen, and support the body as it changes. There’s space to breathe, to release tension, and to build a sense of trust in and safety in your own body. We move with intention, finding strength where it’s needed and softness where it’s called for.
The biggest joy is when a couple months later I see familiar faces return - this time with their babies. It’s incredibly moving to witness that transition. To see someone journey from pregnancy into early motherhood, and to then meet their babies who were once just a quiet presence in the room.
The Mum & Baby classes carry a different kind of energy. They are beautifully unpredictable - and sometimes quite noisy! But even though we are practicing yoga with babies close by, there are moments for movement, recovery, and reconnection. These classes offer space for postnatal healing, gently rebuilding strength, playing and connecting to your baby, and just as importantly, sharing space with others who are in a similar season of life.
Both classes, in their own way, are about support. About creating an environment where mothers can arrive exactly as they are, be held in community, and hopefully leave feeling just a little more grounded.
To be a small part of that journey here are Oca - from pregnancy to parenthood - is such a privilege.
With love,
Meg
