Presence and Surrender: Listening to the Wisdom of the Body

This month for me carries the theme of presence and surrender; presence in the sense that we are not only aware of our surroundings but our bodies.

Taking a moment to check in with each vital organ and listen to what it is telling us, for example, traditional Chinese medicine believe that the liver is where we store anger, the kidneys fear, and the heart joy.

Our bodies are our compass and guide to point us to what we really want to do or be, which we tend to neglect due to our conditioning to continue to be on the move or distracted. I’m sure the majority of us have had that gut feeling that we wished we had listened to, I know I have 🤓

My invitation for this month would be to check in with yourself on a deeper level (similar to a meditative body scan), have a conversation with each of your organs and surrender to the emotions/feelings that may arise and get to know the voice that is talking to you.

Some examples of questions: How are you? / What have you been holding on to? / How long have you been feeling this way? / What can we do to make it better?

I highly recommend the book: When the body says no by Gabor Maté
