Moving Meditation: Why Yoga is More Than Just the Poses

While we’re within a very evident period of transition within the seasons it has made me reflect how this translates on the mat. I’ve been inviting my classes this month to focus on the movement between poses, which empowers us to be less goal oriented. Focusing on our transitions emphasises the importance of the journey over just the destination.

Staying mindful and present through our transitions requires much greater physical stability and mental resilience than any crazy arm balance or peak pose. I love the phrase: “Yoga is not about touching your toes. It’s about what you learn on the way down.”

I think it’s so easy to forget this, so let this be your gentle reminder that yoga is a moving meditation and not our Cirque de Soleil audition!

Warmly,

Wiz
