Hatha Yoga for Winter Solstice: Deep Rest and Mindful Softening

As we wait to mark the return of light on December 21st at Winter Solstice, this gifted time for me continues to be a chance to explore introspection and deep rest.

This month it means spending more time in preparation and descent to savasana as bookends to the main physical yoga practice. Using massage balls to support fascia release, we can observe our own bodies as we invite a delicious softening in the shoulders and hips, the ultimate self care.

Sinking further into darkest time of year, I’m reminded of how endings make way for new beginnings and the preciousness of being with loved ones now. For any love you might experience, if you can, offer the energy back to others in the universe who need might need it.

Join me at Oca for Hatha practice on Mondays.
