From Busy Commutes to Mindful Moments: A Journey Back to Reading
With the arrival of April and a new full moon, there’s often talk of fresh energy, shifts, new perspectives, and letting go.
Over the past six weeks, I found myself going back to travelling on the Tube, something very normal for a Londoner, but for me, it felt like a shift. Over the last year and a half, I had shaped my days around buses, walking, and cycling, building a slower, more connected rhythm and a sense of community through those choices.
So I decided to make it work and see it as an opportunity to honour one of my aspirations for the new year: to start reading again.
I’ve always thought of myself as a reader, but in the past couple of years I struggled to find my “reading space” in London. It always felt easier in Italy, in the summer, by the beach, with the sound of the sea in the background - the kind of setting that makes it effortless to get lost in a book. Not quite the same as the Underground….
And yet, in the middle of busy commutes, I found myself slowly returning to that habit. I’ve recently been reading The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins, and it’s been a gentle reminder of letting go of control, expectations, and the need for perfect conditions. One quote that stayed with me is:
“Time doesn’t heal all wounds. What you do with your time does.”
So this April, I invite you to reflect on how you’re using your time. Is there something you’ve been meaning to return to? Something you could approach differently, even in the middle of a busy routine?
Maybe it’s as simple as carving out a moment to move, breathe, and reconnect, perhaps by joining one of the beautiful classes at Oca and being part of this community.
See you on the mat,
Aurora 🌿
